Offline Emergency Mesh Messaging

I need a lightweight proof-of-concept that lets ordinary smartphones keep talking when every tower is down. The app must run on iOS, remain fully functional in Airplane Mode, and rely only on radios already inside the phone. Core requirements • Device-to-device discovery and auto-forming mesh that supports 2–3 hops. • Short text messages and current GPS coordinates relayed across the mesh. • Basic AES-128/256 encryption so content and location data stay tamper-free. • A simple text-based interface—no maps, no shiny graphics—just a clear log of peers, coordinates, and messages. GUI is preferred but not mandatory for this proof of concept. Technical direction On iOS you can use Multipeer Connectivity plus BLE. Feel free to suggest alternative P2P stacks, but outline them in your bid along with how you plan to re-establish routes when a peer drops or moves out of range. Deliverables 1. Clean, well-commented source code. 2. Test-ready builds: an iOS TestFlight or sideloadable .ipa. 3. A concise PDF explaining discovery, routing, and disconnect handling logic, plus setup steps for a three-device field test. If you have prior work in mesh, ad-hoc or disaster-response comms, mention it—and please be specific about the libraries or custom protocols you’ll use and how you’ll manage reconnection without draining the battery.
