Freelance IT & Network Technician Required

Job Title: Contract Level 2 IT & Network Technician (Phoenix Metro Area – Hybrid) Job Type: Contract / Freelance (Project-based / Hourly) Location: Hybrid (Remote administrative work + On-site client visits in Phoenix and surrounding areas) Target Audience: Experience with micro and small businesses (2–25 employees) About the Role: Our IT services firm is seeking an experienced, independent Level 2 Computer Network Technician for contract-based client projects. This is a hybrid role requiring remote troubleshooting and on-site dispatch to client locations across the Greater Phoenix metro area. You will be the primary technical resource managing, troubleshooting, and optimizing IT environments for our small business clients (ranging from 2 to 25 users). We need a self-starter with proven, practical experience who understands the unique constraints of small business budgets and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: • On-Site & Remote Support: Travel to client locations in Phoenix and surrounding cities for hardware deployments, physical networking, and hands-on troubleshooting. • Active Directory & Server Management: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server Domain Controllers, including Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and user access controls. • Network Security: Handle the end-to-end setup, configuration, firmware updates, and security policies for SonicWall firewalls. • Wireless & Switching: Deploy, map, and manage Ubiquiti network devices (UniFi Access Points, Switches, and Gateways). • Application Networking: Troubleshoot and optimize QuickBooks in a multi-user network environment, managing hosting modes, company file permissions, and Database Server Manager stability. Required Experience & Qualifications: • Location: Must be based in the Greater Phoenix area with reliable transportation for on-site client visits. • Proven Track Record: Minimum 3+ years of hands-on IT field experience, specifically as a Level 2 Technician supporting small business clients (under 30 users). We value proven, real-world experience above all else. • Advanced proficiency with Windows Server (Active Directory/Domain Controllers). • Deep knowledge of SonicWall firewall configuration and security rules. • Hands-on experience with Ubiquiti UniFi controller software and hardware ecosystems. • Specialized experience resolving multi-user QuickBooks networking errors (e.g., H202, H505 codes). • Certifications: Professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+/Security+, SonicWall CSSA, or Microsoft identity/server certs) are a plus, but not required if you have equivalent field experience.
