عن الوظيفة

Experienced Paralegal / Attorney — Washington Legal Research, Motions & Appellate Document Preparation We are seeking experienced paralegals, attorneys, legal researchers, and legal-document professionals for ongoing project-based work involving primarily Washington State matters. This is more than a single-document assignment. We have a growing number of active matters and projects that can be assigned to individuals who demonstrate strong legal research, drafting, organization, accuracy, and reliability. What We Are Looking For: Applicants should have experience with, or be highly capable of learning: * Family-law motions, responses, declarations, briefs, and related court documents * Washington State court rules and filing requirements * Legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or comparable professional legal-research platforms * Locating and analyzing controlling authority, including Washington Supreme Court, Washington Court of Appeals, and other applicable precedent * Proper citation format and accurate citation verification * Correct court captions, formatting, page limits, exhibits, tables, and filing requirements * Identifying the strongest controlling authority rather than unnecessarily filling a document with repetitive arguments * Preparing editable Microsoft Word documents and court-ready PDFs * Reviewing pleadings, declarations, exhibits, transcripts, prior orders, and other case materials * Proofreading and quality-control review before documents are finalized Appellate Experience Experience with the Washington Court of Appeals is especially valuable. Applicants with appellate experience should be familiar with, or willing to learn, Washington appellate procedure, including notices, motions, briefing requirements, assignments of error, preservation of issues, standards of review, citations to the record, tables of authorities, appendices, and applicable Rules of Appellate Procedure (RAP). Applicants should also be willing to learn the procedural requirements associated with discretionary review and other appellate-review processes when a particular matter requires them. Research & Writing Philosophy We value quality over unnecessary length. A shorter, well-organized argument supported by the correct controlling statute, court rule, Washington Supreme Court decision, or Court of Appeals decision can be substantially more useful than pages of repetitive writing. Every cited authority should be checked for accuracy, relevance, and current validity. AI may be used intelligently to improve efficiency, organization, issue spotting, and drafting, but AI-generated citations or legal propositions must never be accepted without verification against reliable legal sources. We are looking for professionals who know how to combine legal judgment, research tools, technology, and careful human review. Ongoing Work There are multiple active matters and projects available. Strong performers may receive continuing assignments involving: * Motions and responses * Declarations and supporting documents * Legal memoranda and research * Family-law pleadings * Trial-court document preparation * Appellate motions and briefs * Case-law and statutory research * Citation and authority verification * Record and exhibit organization * Document formatting and final quality-control review Our primary jurisdiction is Washington State. Matters from other U.S. jurisdictions may occasionally arise, but they will be the exception rather than the focus. Team Environment You must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team when required. Depending on the project, you may collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, legal-document professionals, researchers, and technology/AI team members. We value people who communicate clearly, meet deadlines, accept constructive review, document their research, and take responsibility for the accuracy of their work.

Compensation

Compensation is project-based and structured according to the complexity, scope, turnaround requirements, and quality of the assignment. We are interested in building ongoing relationships with high-performing professionals, and successful contributors may be offered a steady pipeline of additional projects. Typical Deliverables Depending on the assignment: * Editable Microsoft Word document * Professionally formatted, court-ready PDF * Properly formatted citations * Table of authorities when applicable * Relevant statutes, court rules, and case authorities * Research notes or authority list when requested * Final proofreading and formatting review When Applying Please tell us specifically about your experience with: 1. Family-law motions and court-document preparation 2. Washington State law or U.S. state-court litigation 3. Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar legal-research platforms 4. Supreme Court and appellate case research 5. Bluebook and/or Washington citation requirements 6. Court of Appeals briefing or appellate procedure 7. Microsoft Word legal-document formatting 8. AI-assisted legal research or drafting, if applicable 9. Your availability for ongoing project work Please provide one or two redacted writing samples if available, preferably a motion, memorandum, brief, or appellate document. We are particularly interested in applicants who work hard, intelligently, efficiently, and accurately and who want an opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as the volume of projects grows.
