In this role, you will conduct in-depth country conditions research to support expert witness reports utilized in legal proceedings, asylum and immigration tribunals, and human rights assessments. You will work closely with senior experts to deliver objective, evidence-based research under tight deadlines. Comprehensive training and ongoing mentoring will be provided throughout your tenure to help you master the methodologies of legal expert report preparation. Key Responsibilities Country Conditions Research: Gather, analyze, and synthesize primary and secondary data regarding human rights, political climate, security, and socio-legal conditions across MENA countries. Report Drafting: Draft clear, precise, and objective research findings for inclusion in expert witness reports with quick turnaround times. Urgent Query Response: Rapidly review background documents and respond to urgent research queries from legal teams and instruction bodies. Quality & Accuracy: Ensure all factual findings are meticulously cited, neutral, and meet standard legal evidentiary requirements. Mentorship & Collaboration: Participate in ongoing training sessions and incorporate feedback from senior experts into your research and writing. Candidate Profile & Suitability This role is well-suited for individuals looking to apply their academic expertise and analytical background to high-impact legal and human rights work. Ideal Experience Backgrounds: Legal professionals and legal researchers Investigative journalists and analytical writers Researchers from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), human rights charities, or think tanks Requirements Qualifications & Education Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Middle East Studies, Human Rights Law, or a closely related discipline. Essential Skills & Experience Language Proficiency: Excellent, professional-level command of written and spoken English. Punctuality & Reliability: Ability to review complex case documents quickly and deliver high-quality, polished research to meet strict legal deadlines. Responsiveness: Agility and willingness to handle quick-turnaround assignments in a fast-paced environment.
