Senior Delphi Developer for Aviation Software

Project Title: Senior Delphi Developer Needed – VCL/DevExpress Legacy Application (Contract, Aviation/Engine Management Platform) Category: Software Development / Desktop Application Development Skills Required: Delphi, DevExpress, SQL Server, VCL, Object Pascal, Azure DevOps, FireDAC Budget Type: Fixed Price or Hourly (your choice) | Contract — Ongoing Project Description: We are hiring a hands-on Senior Delphi Developer to join an embedded engineering team working on a mission-critical engine management platform used by aircraft lessors and operators to track engine health, risk exposure, and lifecycle financials. This is a maintenance and enhancement role on a mature, production Delphi/VCL codebase — not a greenfield build. You'll work directly within the client's Agile/SAFe delivery process (Azure DevOps backlog, sprint ceremonies, PI planning), alongside the Product Owner and QA team. Key Responsibilities: Design, code, and unit test new features and enhancements to a Delphi VCL/DevExpress-based desktop application Debug and resolve production issues and customer-reported bugs; perform root-cause analysis Write and optimize MS SQL Server stored procedures, functions, and queries Refactor legacy code for maintainability and performance; participate in peer code reviews Build/maintain automated unit tests (target: 90%+ automated coverage) Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives as an active Scrum team member Produce supporting documentation (design notes, test evidence, review checklists) Must-Have Skills: 5+ years professional Delphi development (Delphi 11+ strongly preferred; Delphi 10.x acceptable) Solid grasp of Delphi/VCL fundamentals — packages, DLLs, Parallel Programming Library Hands-on experience with DevExpress VCL components (grids, ribbons, docking, reporting) Database connectivity: ADO and FireDAC Strong MS SQL Server skills — stored procedures, functions, query optimization Working knowledge of Azure DevOps — backlog management, Git, CI/CD pipelines Practical Agile/Scrum experience (SAFe exposure a plus) Professional English — direct daily interaction with client stakeholders required Nice to Have: Experience in aviation, engineering asset management, or other regulated/mission-critical industrial software Exposure to legacy application modernization or cloud migration initiatives Prior experience as an embedded vendor resource inside a large enterprise Agile team Engagement Details: Contract position, 2 openings Location: India-based initially; future on-site/hybrid presence in Amsterdam, Netherlands for candidates with (or able to obtain) valid EU work authorization Work mode: Agile/SAFe, organized in 6-week Planning Intervals (3 sprints) To Apply: Please share your Delphi version history, specific DevExpress components you've worked with, and examples of legacy modernization or migration projects you've led.
