Power BI Dashboards: SQL & Excel

The task is to build a set of clear, interactive dashboards and accompanying reports with Power BI and advanced Excel. All visuals will draw live or scheduled-refresh data from two sources: our core SQL database and a collection of Excel workbooks that update weekly. Scope of work • Connect, clean, and model both data sources in Power Query/DAX so KPIs stay in sync. • Design intuitive bar and line charts for trend tracking, plus pie and scatter plots to surface categorical splits and correlations. • Optimise drill-through, slicers, and conditional formatting so non-technical managers can explore results without touching raw data. • Provide an Excel-based replica (pivot tables, slicers, and formulas) for teams that still work offline. • Document the refresh process and any calculated measures, then hand over the .pbix file and templated Excel workbook. Acceptance criteria 1. Dashboards load in under five seconds on a standard Power BI Pro licence. 2. All measures reconcile exactly with the source SQL figures and Excel control totals. 3. Visuals match the agreed corporate colour palette and are mobile-friendly. 4. A short video walkthrough (or live call) demonstrates data refresh, filter usage, and KPI logic. When pushing code or files, keep all connection strings parameterised so credentials stay secure.
