# UI/UX Designer Needed – Redesign of Sportfishing Social Platform (6 Pages) **Project:** The Deck Report **Website:** https://www.thedeckreport.com **Category:** UI/UX Design, Website Redesign, Figma **Scope:** 6 core page designs, desktop and mobile ## Project Overview We are looking for an experienced UI/UX designer to help redesign six key pages of **The Deck Report**, a growing web platform focused on the Southern California sportfishing industry. The Deck Report brings anglers, fishing boats, and sportfishing landings together through fishing reports, trip schedules, fish counts, and a social community. Our platform is already under development, with much of the core functionality working. We are not looking to rebuild the website. We want a modern, professional, visually engaging design that improves the user experience and gives the platform a distinctive identity. The overall experience should combine the community engagement of a modern social network with the practical information anglers need to plan fishing trips. ## Pages to Redesign ### 1. Home Page Create a visually engaging landing page that immediately communicates what The Deck Report offers. Key elements: - Strong hero section with compelling fishing imagery - Featured fishing reports and recent catches - Highlights from the On Deck community - Upcoming fishing trips - Featured boats and landings - Clear calls to action for exploring the platform and joining the community The homepage should encourage visitors to explore the site and return regularly. ### 2. On Deck – Social Community On Deck is our social feed, where anglers share fishing experiences, catches, photos, videos, and conversations. We want a modern social media experience that feels familiar and easy to use. Key elements: - Social feed with photo-rich posts - Post composer for sharing catches and experiences - Likes, comments, sharing, and following - Angler profiles and community interactions - Attractive layouts for multiple photos - Mobile-friendly social feed - Opportunities to discover boats, trips, and fishing activity **This is one of the most important pages in the redesign.** It should feel like an active, engaging fishing community rather than a traditional discussion forum. ### 3. What's Biting – Fishing Reports and Fish Counts This page provides current fishing activity, catch reports, and fish counts from Southern California sportfishing boats. Key elements: - Clear presentation of fish counts - Filtering by date, landing, boat, and fish species - Visually appealing report cards - Fishing photos where available - Easy-to-read catch statistics - Links to related boats, landings, and trips The design should make fishing information easy to scan while encouraging visitors to explore individual reports. ### 4. Trips – Fishing Trip Discovery This page allows anglers to discover upcoming fishing trips and find boats with available schedules. Key elements: - Search and filtering options - Trip cards with boat, landing, dates, duration, and pricing - Availability information where available - Clear reservation calls to action - Responsive desktop and mobile layouts - An intuitive experience for comparing trips The goal is to help anglers find relevant trips quickly and easily. ### 5. Boat Profile Page Each sportfishing boat has its own page showcasing information about the vessel and its fishing activity. Key elements: - Boat photos and profile information - Landing affiliation - Boat details and amenities - Recent catches and fishing reports - Upcoming trips - Reservation links - Community content associated with the boat The page should help anglers learn about a boat and encourage them to book a trip. ### 6. Landing Profile Page Each sportfishing landing has a dedicated page representing its operation and fleet. Key elements: - Landing branding and photos - Location and contact information - Fleet of boats - Upcoming trips - Recent fish counts and fishing reports - Links to individual boat profiles - Clear navigation and reservation opportunities The design should give each landing a professional presence while maintaining consistent branding across The Deck Report. ## Design Direction We want a design that is: - Modern, clean, and professional - Visually engaging, with strong photography - Inspired by the ocean and Southern California sportfishing culture without looking outdated or overly nautical - Easy to navigate and intuitive for a broad audience - Mobile-first and fully responsive - Consistent across all six pages - Built around reusable components and a cohesive design system We are open to creative recommendations regarding colors, typography, layout, navigation, and visual hierarchy. The Deck Report should feel like a modern technology platform for the fishing community, not a traditional fishing message board. ## Deliverables We expect: 1. High-fidelity Figma designs for all six pages. 2. Desktop and mobile versions of each page. 3. A consistent design system covering typography, colors, buttons, cards, forms, and navigation. 4. Reusable Figma components. 5. Interactive prototypes for key user journeys. 6. Developer-ready Figma files with assets and specifications. 7. Reasonable design revisions based on feedback. ## Technical Background Our existing platform uses: - React - TypeScript - Material UI - .NET backend APIs The selected designer will focus on UI/UX design. Development and implementation are not included in this initial project.
