Injection-Moulded Tackle Storage CAD Design

Senior Mechanical Product Design Engineer – Injection-Moulded Plastic Tackle Storage System VANTEXA is developing a premium range of fishing tackle storage products for the UK and European markets. We are seeking an experienced mechanical product design engineer to convert our detailed 2D product layouts into professional, manufacturing-ready 3D CAD designs suitable for plastic injection moulding. Initial Project Scope: - One Small Tackle Box (250 × 190 × 80 mm external dimensions), incorporating multiple lid compartments, an integrated rig board, configurable bottom storage, removable dividers, hinges and secure latches. - Two different dual-sided Mini Pods (approximately 100 × 75 × 25 mm each), with nine fixed compartments per pod, different internal layouts and independently secured storage faces. Engineering Requirements: - Parametric 3D CAD modelling, preferably in SolidWorks. - Injection-moulding design and Design for Manufacturing (DFM). - Engineering of hinges, latches, snap-fit mechanisms and secure compartment covers. - Wall thickness, ribs, draft angles, shrinkage allowances, tolerances and material selection. - Practical design improvements that preserve the intended functionality and premium appearance. - Tooling feasibility and cost-conscious manufacturing solutions. Expected Deliverables: - Fully editable native CAD files with feature history. - STEP files, assembly models, manufacturing drawings and bill of materials. - Preliminary DFM and tooling feasibility assessment. - Support for agreed prototype revisions and initial OEM manufacturing feedback. Applicants must demonstrate experience designing commercial injection-moulded plastic products, preferably storage systems, enclosures or multi-component assemblies. Experience taking products from CAD through prototyping and actual manufacturing is highly desirable. Budget: Approximately US$2,000 for the initial project, subject to clearly defined milestones and deliverables. Please specify any scope exclusions and revision allowances. Confidentiality: NDA required before sharing proprietary design layouts. All final project CAD files and intellectual property must belong to VANTEXA under the agreed contract.
