## Senior PCB / Electronics Engineer – Independent Final Review of Completed KiCad Board I am looking for an experienced electronics/PCB engineer to provide a **final independent second opinion** on a completed 4-layer PCB before I manufacture the first five assembled prototypes. **Budget: approximately £20–£30 fixed price.** This is **not a design-from-scratch job** and I am not expecting a lengthy formal engineering report for this budget. What I want is an experienced engineer to spend some focused time reviewing the completed design, identify any obvious or serious remaining risks, and tell me whether they would personally be comfortable sending the board for manufacture. ### Current status The board is **SP-MB1 Rev B.1** and has already undergone extensive development and one independent engineering review. It currently has: - KiCad ERC: 0 errors - PCB DRC: 0 errors - 0 unconnected items - Native KiCad 10 project - Final Gerbers/drill files - Final BOM and component placement files - 126 fitted component positions - 11 intentional DNP positions The previous independent engineer originally found three genuine issues involving: - W5500 crystal implementation - PoE isolation clearance - USB-C mechanical accessibility These were corrected in Rev B.1 and subsequently re-reviewed. The previous engineer's final conclusion was effectively: **Safe to manufacture five engineering prototypes, subject to a few first-article/order checks.** I would now like a **second engineer who has had no involvement with the project** to look at it independently and either increase my confidence or identify anything we have missed. ### Main hardware The PCB includes: - ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8 - Native USB-C - W5500 Ethernet - Taoglas TMJ6049BGNL integrated-magnetics/PoE RJ45 - Silvertel Ag9905MT isolated PoE module - TPS2121 USB/PoE power mux - AP63203Q 3.3 V buck converter - ADS1232 24-bit load-cell ADC - ST25R100 13.56 MHz NFC reader - External NFC antenna/matching network - Mixed analogue, digital, RF, Ethernet and power circuitry ### What I would like checked I am mainly interested in problems that could cause the first five boards to: - fail completely; - damage components; - fail to boot/program; - have unreliable USB, Ethernet or PoE; - have incorrect connector or footprint pinouts; - have serious analogue/load-cell problems; - have a fundamentally incorrect NFC implementation; - be assembled incorrectly; - be difficult or impossible to bring up. In particular, please pay attention to: - ESP32-S3 power, boot/reset and native USB - PoE implementation and isolation - TPS2121 USB/PoE power switching - W5500, crystal, Ethernet magnetics and RJ45 mapping - ADS1232/load-cell analogue section - ST25R100/NFC implementation - critical/custom footprints - polarity-sensitive components - BOM/footprint compatibility - obvious PCB layout or manufacturing problems There is **no need to redesign the PCB simply because you would personally have routed something differently**. I am only interested in changes that represent a meaningful risk to these first five prototype boards. ### Critical parts Please pay particular attention to: - **Taoglas TMJ6049BGNL** RJ45 - **Silvertel Ag9905MT** PoE module - **ST25R100-CMET** - **TPS2121** - **C109 KEMET A700X107M010ATE015** PoE output capacitor Some of these are intentionally locked to exact manufacturer part numbers. ### Previous review information I will provide: - native KiCad project - schematic and PCB - Gerbers/drills - BOM/CPL - previous engineer review - summary of the Rev B → Rev B.1 corrections - final validation information Please **do not simply assume the previous engineer was correct**. I specifically want another pair of eyes. ### Deliverable I do not need a large formal report. A concise written response is fine, but please include: 1. **Any issue you believe should genuinely stop me manufacturing the five boards** 2. Any significant risk you think I should know about 3. Any sensible first-article tests you recommend 4. A simple final answer: **“If this were your project, would you send these exact files for manufacture of five prototype boards — YES or NO?”** If NO, please explain exactly why. ### Who I am looking for Ideally you have practical experience with several of: - KiCad - ESP32 hardware - Ethernet / magnetics / W5500 - PoE - USB - switch-mode power - precision ADC/load-cell circuits - NFC/RFID - mixed-signal PCB layout I am looking for an **experienced electronics engineer**, not somebody who will simply run KiCad DRC and repeat the result back to me. ### When applying Please start your proposal with: **INDEPENDENT PCB REVIEW** Then briefly tell me: 1. Your PCB/electronics design experience 2. Which of PoE, Ethernet, ESP32, NFC and precision analogue you have worked with 3. Whether you can review native KiCad 10 files 4. Whether you have previously reviewed someone else's PCB before manufacture 5. Whether you can provide a clear YES/NO manufacturing recommendation I understand this budget does not buy a full multi-day engineering audit. I am looking for a focused, experienced second opinion on an already heavily reviewed and validated board before spending money on the first five prototypes.
