Polysomnography Sleep Stage Analysis

Sleep Technician / Polysomnography Scorer – Sleep Staging of PSG/EEG Recordings We are looking for an experienced sleep technician / polysomnography technologist to perform manual sleep staging on recorded PSG/EEG data. Scope of Work You will receive sleep recordings in EDF/EDF+ format and will be asked to manually score sleep stages in 30-second epochs. Depending on the recording, we may provide: * A full polysomnography (PSG) recording, including EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG and other channels; or * A limited recording containing only one or two EEG channels. The required sleep stages are: * Wake (W) * N1 * N2 * N3 * REM * Artifact / unscorable epochs when applicable Scoring should preferably follow current AASM sleep-staging rules. Deliverable For each recording, we need an annotation/hypnogram file containing the sleep stage assigned to every 30-second epoch. The annotation file should be synchronized with the original recording and suitable for importing into sleep-analysis software. Preferred output formats include EDF+ annotations / EDF hypnogram or another standard sleep-staging annotation format. CSV may also be accepted if necessary, provided that every epoch and its corresponding sleep stage are clearly identified. We are primarily interested in sleep staging. Respiratory event scoring, limb movements and other PSG event scoring are not required unless specifically requested. Required Experience We are looking specifically for someone with practical experience in manual PSG sleep scoring. Please apply only if you have experience with: * Manual sleep staging from PSG/EEG * Identifying W, N1, N2, N3 and REM * Recognition of sleep spindles and K-complexes * Slow-wave activity * Rapid and slow eye movements * EEG arousals and artifacts * Differentiating Wake from N1 and other difficult stage transitions * Working with 30-second PSG epochs Experience working as a sleep technologist/technician in a clinical sleep laboratory is strongly preferred. RPSGT, RST, CPSGT or equivalent sleep-medicine training/certification is an advantage but is not mandatory if you have substantial practical scoring experience. Important: Limited-Channel Recordings Some assignments may contain only one or two EEG channels, without EOG or chin EMG. You should therefore be comfortable scoring recordings where the available information is limited and clearly identifying epochs where a confident stage cannot be assigned from the available signals. Can you provide the final sleep-stage annotations as an EDF/EDF+ hypnogram or annotation file? 9. Are you comfortable scoring studies when only one or two EEG channels are available? 10. What is your typical turnaround time for scoring one full-night recording? Initial Test Assignment We intend to start with a small paid test assignment. We will provide a PSG/EDF recording and ask you to perform sleep staging and return the corresponding annotation/hypnogram file. The quality and consistency of the scoring will be reviewed before proceeding with additional recordings. If the initial work is successful, this may develop into ongoing work involving multiple recordings.
