We are a small logistics company looking for an experienced Python/Django developer to build a custom inventory management web application. The frontend design is almost finalized; we need a developer to handle the backend and integrate it with the UI. Current setup • Front-end UI: designed and 90 % complete • Database: production PostgreSQL instance already populated with live data Core scope • Map the existing PostgreSQL schema into Django models without disrupting current tables. • Implement secure user authentication so staff log in with role-based access. • Build inventory tracking endpoints that let us create, update, pick, pack, and reconcile stock in real time. • Provide concise API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI preferred) so our in-house devs can consume the routes easily. • Wire everything to the dashboard HTML/CSS we provide, returning JSON for dynamic views. Deliverables 1. Django project (Python 3.x, Django REST Framework) connected to our PostgreSQL database. 2. Auth module (token or session-based) with basic user management views. 3. Inventory endpoints covering CRUD and stock-movement logic. 4. Sample environment file plus README for local setup and deployment. 5. Postman (or similar) collection demonstrating each route. Acceptance criteria • All endpoints return correct status codes and follow REST conventions. • Login required for every protected route; unauthorized access blocked. • No breaking changes to existing tables or data. • Code passes basic unit tests we will run before sign-off. If you have previous Django REST work with PostgreSQL and can move fast, let’s get started—I’m ready to share schemas and the UI repo immediately.
