I’m starting from zero in French and want to work with a tutor who can take me all the way to comfortable fluency. I can set aside one two-hour online lesson every week and will follow up with independent study between sessions. The journey I have in mind is balanced: I’d like a clear, structured learning plan that still leaves plenty of room for interactive activities and real conversation. We’ll cover every skill—speaking and listening, grammar and vocabulary, reading and writing—so I’m never advancing in one area and stalling in another. Pronunciation help is also essential, especially in the early stages. Here’s what I’d like our collaboration to look like: • A roadmap that breaks the CEFR levels into achievable milestones, with materials shared in advance. • Live video sessions (Zoom, Google Meet, or a similar platform) where we mix drills, role-play, and open dialogue to keep things engaging. • Brief written recaps after each lesson outlining what we covered, homework, and specific pronunciation or grammar points to review. • Periodic progress checks so we both know when it’s time to step up the challenge or revisit a topic. If you have experience guiding absolute beginners to fluency and enjoy tailoring lessons to the individual, I’d be happy to hear how you would structure our first few months.
