English-Mandarin Factory Interpreter

LOCATION REQUIREMENT: Applicants must currently be based in Foshan, Guangzhou or nearby and available for in-person factory visits. This is not a remote translation job. Job Description I’m planning a sourcing trip to Foshan and Guangzhou, China, to visit manufacturers and source building products for an Australian construction project. I’m looking for an independent local interpreter and factory visit assistant who can accompany me during factory visits, assist with supplier communication and help coordinate the trip. Products of interest include aluminium windows and doors, kitchens, cabinetry, stone, tiles, sanitaryware, taps, showers, glass, wardrobes, lighting, balustrades and other construction materials.

Responsibilities

English/Mandarin interpretation during factory visits and meetings. Finding and contacting suitable manufacturers. Arranging factory appointments before my arrival. Accompanying me to factories and showrooms. Assisting with technical questions, pricing, MOQ, lead times and negotiations. Requesting relevant Australian compliance certificates and product documentation (e.g. WaterMark, WELS and applicable Australian Standards). Helping identify genuine manufacturers rather than trading companies. Planning efficient travel routes between factories. I will select many of the manufacturers myself, but recommendations of genuine manufacturers are also welcome. Important Requirements I am NOT looking for a sourcing agency or commission-based agent. I need someone independent who works on my behalf for an agreed hourly rate, without receiving commissions, referral fees or other payments from suppliers. Previous experience with building materials, construction products, international trade or factory visits is highly preferred.
