#New!! Ultra-Thin Mechanical Dual Card Stack System – CAD & Prototype Hello everyone, We previously posted a similar project. However, we have now finalized the operating principle of the system we want to use. Therefore, we are looking for an engineer who can bring this specific mechanism to life. Our project will be used in a company catalog. Below, we explain exactly what we need and how the system should work. We have also attached reference images. **How the System Works:** - As shown in the attached image, there are two card stacks positioned side by side. - Each stack contains 10 cards, making a total of 20 cards. - When the user turns a small thumbwheel with a single movement, the top card from the left stack moves to the top of the right stack. - At the same time, the bottom card from the right stack moves to the bottom of the left stack. - With each movement, the next card is displayed, and the cards continue circulating in an endless loop. (The system will be designed for a maximum of 20 cards, 10+10, but it must also work smoothly with fewer cards, such as 4+4, 6+6, or 8+8.) - No electricity, motor, or rewinding mechanism will be required. - The system should consist of as few parts as possible. We do not want complicated, bulky solutions that require too many moving parts or are likely to break easily. **The only mechanism we need is the transfer of cards between these two stacks.** We will place a PVC-coated outer cover over this mechanism, and the final product will be used as a company catalog. The overall appearance of the catalog is also shown in another attached image. **Technical Specifications:** - Card dimensions: 16 × 6 cm. - Number of cards: Maximum 20 (10+10). - Card material: We are considering PVC-coated A4 printing cardstock. However, we are open to suggestions for alternative materials. - Catalog dimensions: 35 × 25 cm. - Target total thickness: Maximum 8 mm, including the outer covers. - Cards must be individually replaceable. - All mechanical parts must be designed for manufacturing using a 3D printer (3D printing). **Three Important Potential Challenges:** 1. **Single-card transfer:** During each movement, only one card from each stack must be correctly separated and transferred. Two cards must not move together. 2. **Jam-free operation:** Cards must move from the left stack to the right stack and from the right stack to the left stack without bending, excessive friction, or jamming. 3. **Complete and stable operation with a single movement:** Both card transfers must be completed with one easy finger movement. The new image must stop in exactly the correct position, and the mechanism must continue working reliably over time without breaking down or losing the card sequence. **What We Expect from Engineers:** How would you approach the three critical challenges mentioned above? How do you plan to solve them mechanically? Do you foresee any other technical problems we might encounter with this system? If you could briefly explain your approach, we can decide how to move forward together. **Important:** We are not looking for CAD drawings or a theoretical design only. We want to see a fully working, physically testable prototype of the mechanism. In other words, at the end of the project, we expect a fully functional prototype and complete CAD files. **Budget and Long-Term Collaboration:** We are an agency, and we are new to this platform. We regularly have projects of this kind and work with engineers on an ongoing basis. However, we have not been getting the performance we expected recently, so we are looking for a new engineer. That is why we joined this platform for the first time, and we would like to work with an engineer from here. Unfortunately, the budget for this particular project is quite limited. However, please do not consider this a one-time job. We would like to build a long-term working relationship with an engineer who can help us with this project and with whom we can establish a good collaboration. Thank you.
