I am creating a 3D-printed mid-sole for a sandal where visual impact takes precedence over performance. The entire piece should read as an organic, fluid lattice—think flowing cellular structures or rippling coral rather than rigid geometric grids. I want the pattern itself to become the statement, so negative space, varied cell sizes and graceful curves are all welcome. Your task is to translate that vision into a production-ready digital model. You may work in Rhino + Grasshopper, Fusion 360, nTopology, or any other lattice-capable software you prefer, as long as the final output arrives as a clean, watertight STL (and, if possible, the native editable file). Please engineer the lattice so it remains printable on an SLS or MJF nylon printer without excessive support requirements; overall thickness can follow typical sandal midsoles, but I’m flexible if the form asks for nuance. Acceptance will be based on three points: • The visual language must embody organic, flowing movement rather than geometric repetition. • The mesh must pass a basic print-check in Netfabb or similar without repairs. • Edge conditions should blend smoothly into a flat top surface that can bond with an outsole. Send a short note on how you intend to approach generative patterning, plus a sample of any previous lattice or sculptural work. I’ll choose the designer whose style best captures the free-form aesthetic I’m after.
