AI Video Editing Research

VIDEO EDITING & VFX — RESEARCH PROJECT Goal: Research, test, and identify the best tools, techniques, and workflows for high-quality video editing and VFX. The main goal is to determine the best way to achieve each type of edit while maintaining maximum visual quality, detail, and frame-to-frame consistency, with minimal AI artifacts. WEEK 1 — RESEARCH & TESTING Research and test different AI tools, VFX techniques, and workflows for: • Large-scale environmental transformations — changing an entire environment or scene • Advanced compositing — realistically combining different shots or elements • Creature, character, or vehicle integration — adding new elements to a scene • Complex object insertion, removal, or replacement — adding, removing, or replacing objects • Human-object interaction editing — modifying how people interact with objects • Other cinematic-quality VFX — exploring additional advanced use cases For each approach, evaluate: • Visual quality and realism • Detail and pixel preservation • Frame-to-frame consistency • Flickering and temporal artifacts • Deformations and unwanted changes • Accuracy of the edit • Processing time • Level of manual work required Deliverable: Identify the best tool, method, and workflow for each type of edit, including why it was selected. WEEK 2 — SCALING & WORKFLOW Once the best approaches are identified: • Document the workflow step by step • Determine what can be automated vs. what requires manual work • Measure time per video • Identify required tools, hardware, and resources • Identify potential bottlenecks • Define how the process can be scaled while maintaining quality Deliverable: A clear, repeatable, and scalable workflow for each editing category. Deliverable: Final high-quality samples + documented workflows. DAILY CHECK-IN: Short daily meeting with me to keep the research moving: WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR? The main priority is research, experimentation, and finding the best possible solution. We are not looking for someone who simply knows how to use one AI tool. We are looking for someone who can test different approaches, understand their limitations, compare results, and determine what actually works best. The final result should be a workflow that produces cinematic-quality footage that looks like it was actually filmed that way, without obvious AI artifacts such as flickering, deformation, texture changes, or inconsistent objects or people between frames.
