Garmin Forerunner Race Predictor App

I want to publish a Connect IQ app that runs on the Garmin Forerunner line and helps runners track how they are performing against a planned race strategy. Before the start, I will key in my target split times for each segment of the course. As I run, the watch should read the native live data that Garmin already records—specifically my current running pace and the distance I have covered—then, once I complete each segment, recalculate and display an updated projected finish time based on my actual performance so far. Key points you will need to handle include: • User-friendly screen for entering or editing the planned segment times directly on the watch (or through Garmin Express / Connect if that is simpler). • Real-time access to pace and distance sensors via the Connect IQ API, with efficient background processing to preserve battery life. • Clear, glanceable on-watch display that shows current segment status, variance from plan, and the continuously updated predicted finish time. • Logic that resets or adjusts correctly if the runner skips a segment or pauses the activity. • A straightforward packaging so I can sideload and test on my own Forerunner first, then submit to the Connect IQ Store. The project is done when the .iq app file installs cleanly, passes Garmin’s app validation, and the finish-time prediction updates accurately through an entire test run.
