Canva Tutor Needed – Children's Chapter Book Layout (2-Hour Online Lesson)

Project Overview I am looking for an experienced Canva tutor to teach me how to lay out an illustrated children's chapter book for ages 7–10. I would like to learn the skills needed to format my own books independently, including text layout, illustration placement and preparation of print-ready PDFs. This is a teaching assignment, not a book design project.I am looking for someone who can explain the process clearly and demonstrate the techniques step by step. Topics to Cover 1. Book Setup and Text Formatting - Setting up book dimensions and page margins. - Choosing suitable fonts and font sizes for children aged 7–10. - Adjusting line spacing, paragraph spacing and first-line indentation. - Formatting chapter headings, page numbers and consistent page layouts. 2. Spot Illustration Placement - Positioning small illustrations within or alongside story text. - Managing text flow, spacing and page balance. - Avoiding awkward gaps and overcrowded pages. 3. Full-Page and Double-Page Illustrations - Planning illustration placement throughout a chapter book. - Positioning full-page illustrations and double-page spreads. - Understanding the centre gutter, bleed, safe areas and print margins. 4. Preparing the Book for Printing - Maintaining consistent formatting across chapters. - Exporting a print-ready PDF. - Checking the layout before sending the book for printing. Lesson Arrangement - One two-hour online, one-to-one lesson to start. - The tutor should demonstrate using their own sample book pages, sample text and illustrations. - I will follow along and practise the techniques on my own computer. - No manuscript, unpublished story or personal illustration files will be provided.

Requirements

Strong Canva skills and practical experience with book interior layout. - Experience with illustrated children's books or chapter books preferred. - Good understanding of typography, print layout, margins, gutters and PDF export. - Patient and able to teach a beginner step by step. Please provide examples of previous book interior layouts, your hourly rate and your availability. My preference is for an affordable, practical lesson focused on skills I can use for future books.
