Senior Software Engineer (Travel Tech / Booking Engine) — Remote, LATAM Preferred About the Role We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a fast-growing travel technology company building its own end-to-end booking platform. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you will help evolve the product from a proposal and itinerary tool into a fully integrated booking engine. You will work directly with a globally distributed team (India + US), contributing to core product development and bringing real, hands-on expertise in the travel domain and GDS integrations — Amadeus in particular. This is a new position, created to expand domain expertise inside the engineering team and improve timezone coverage with the U.S.
Design, build, and maintain integrations with Amadeus APIs (and other GDS systems as the platform expands) Develop and enhance a booking engine supporting flights and hotels, with car rental to follow Own the reservation lifecycle end-to-end: search and pricing, booking, ticketing, cancellations, changes, refunds Handle the hard parts: price and availability changes mid-flow, PNR handling, multi-destination itineraries, room and rate combinations Work on backend services and APIs powering travel workflows Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and QA teams across timezones Take ownership of features end-to-end, from design to production Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of integrations and systems Contribute to improving engineering practices (code quality, testing, architecture maturity) Must-Have Requirements Hands-on experience building travel products against GDS APIs — not just working near them. Amadeus is the priority; Sabre or Travelport experience is equally welcome Demonstrable understanding of the reservation lifecycle: booking flows (air and hotel), ticketing, cancellations, reschedules, refunds and exchanges Practical fluency with core distribution concepts (PNR, fare rules, negotiated/private fares, availability and pricing behaviour) Solid backend engineering experience (5–10+ years, or equivalent depth — relevance matters more than years) Experience building API integrations and distributed systems Experience with PHP (Laravel), or strong backend experience in another language with a genuine willingness to work in PHP Experience with relational databases (MySQL or similar) Resourcefulness: comfortable reading imperfect vendor documentation, running your own investigation when the API doesn't behave as documented, and proposing a path forward instead of waiting Ability to work autonomously in a senior IC capacity Nice to Have Exposure to NDC / direct airline distribution Experience with Python or other backend languages Experience with AWS (or GCP / Azure) Exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) Experience in scaling products or startup environments Familiarity with improving CI/CD, testing, and engineering processes Frontend experience is not required — the team covers that side. What We're Looking For Real domain expertise in travel tech — this is the critical filter A product-minded engineer, not a specialist confined to one narrow area: someone who has seen how a booking product fits together Someone who understands not just the code, but the business logic and the impact on the traveller and the agent Ability to ramp up fast in a complex, niche domain Proactive, ownership-driven mindset Comfortable in a small, highly collaborative team Strong communication skills across distributed teams Team & Collaboration Small engineering team (<10 people) based in India: tech lead, senior developers, and QA Direct collaboration with the CTO and product leadership in the U.S. (Miami) High level of ownership and direct contribution Location Fully remote LATAM preferred, for meaningful overlap with U.S. (Miami) working hours Why Join Build a core booking engine from the ground up Work on real-world travel systems with genuine complexity Direct exposure to product and business decisions High ownership in a growing product
