SAP ABAP/TRM Consultant for FT Consulting

Senior SAP ABAP / Treasury & Risk Management (TRM) Consultant – Contract Location: Remote Contract Duration: 3 Months, with potential for extension Start Date: 5 October 2026 / ASAP Engagement Type: Independent Contractor / Freelance Consultant About FT Consulting For over a decade, FT Consulting has delivered specialised SAP consulting solutions to leading organisations across Southern Africa. This is a hands-on consulting role requiring someone who can work independently in a fully remote environment, understand business requirements, develop and enhance SAP solutions, and support the client through testing, deployment and post-go-live activities. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement SAP ABAP enhancements for SAP Treasury and Risk Management (TRM) based on defined business requirements. Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into effective SAP solutions. Develop, test, troubleshoot and maintain ABAP programs, enhancements, reports, interfaces and related technical objects. Work closely with SAP Treasury/functional teams to understand requirements and deliver appropriate technical solutions. Prepare and maintain technical specifications and development documentation. Support SAP transport management, including transport reviews, documentation and movement of developments across environments. Participate in the full project lifecycle, including: Requirements analysis Solution design Development Configuration support Unit and integration testing User acceptance testing Deployment Post-go-live support Collaborate with functional consultants, technical teams and client stakeholders to resolve SAP issues and deliver quality solutions. Investigate and resolve defects and production issues within agreed timelines. Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer and best-practice recommendations to client teams. Support project planning and ensure agreed milestones and deliverables are achieved. Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation throughout the engagement. Essential Requirements The successful candidate must have: 7+ years of SAP ABAP development experience, preferably in SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA environments. At least 5 years' experience within Banking and/or Financial Services, with exposure to Treasury processes. Strong hands-on SAP Treasury experience. Practical experience with SAP Treasury and Risk Management (TRM). Proven experience delivering at least three end-to-end SAP implementations, rollouts or major transformation projects. Strong hands-on ABAP development and enhancement experience. Experience working across the full SAP project lifecycle. Experience with SAP transport management and technical documentation. Strong understanding of Treasury business processes and how they integrate with SAP. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work independently and manage deliverables in a fully remote consulting environment. Availability to commit to the project for the full 3-month contract period. You should be comfortable working with limited supervision, engaging directly with technical and business stakeholders, understanding complex requirements and delivering practical SAP solutions within tight project timelines. This is particularly suited to an experienced SAP ABAP consultant with strong Treasury/TRM and Banking exposure, rather than a generalist ABAP developer.
