Senior Retell AI + Make.com Developer – Existing Automation Takeover

EXISTING SYSTEM – TAKEOVER, REPAIR, TEST & COMPLETE. NOT A REBUILD. I run an electrical contracting business and have an existing AI lead-handling and automation system that is substantially built. I need a senior automation developer to take ownership of the existing build, understand it, repair remaining issues, thoroughly self-test it and get it production-ready. Current stack - Retell AI – AI phone agent - Make.com – automation/orchestration - ServiceM8 – job management - FlatRateNOW – onsite quoting - Google Ads - GA4 / Google Tag Manager Important: much of this already works. The existing system has already successfully: - received leads - created the Company, Job and Job Contact in ServiceM8 - triggered Retell outbound calls - written post-call information back through Make - handled booking/diary information in testing - used controlled/locked pricing logic I am NOT looking for someone to rebuild this system from scratch. Phase 1 – Urgent Audit the existing Retell/Make workflows and make the lead-to-booking system reliable enough for live Google Ads traffic. This includes: - understand the existing scenarios before changing them - identify and repair remaining bugs - ensure confirmed information from the phone call correctly updates/replaces earlier lead information where appropriate - prevent duplicate or conflicting data - properly handle blank/null/missing data - check job/contact matching and IDs - check error handling, retries and scenario reliability - test realistic call outcomes and edge cases - confirm the correct information reaches ServiceM8 The developer must self-test their work. I do not want the business owner acting as the primary software tester. Once Phase 1 passes supervised testing, the system can be used with live advertising. Remaining Work After the lead-to-booking workflow is stable, complete and/or verify the remaining automation, including: - post-job/customer follow-up automation - review/certificate workflow where applicable - FlatRateNOW/ServiceM8 workflow requirements - Google Ads conversion tracking - GA4 / GTM verification - monitoring and error handling so failures are visible rather than silent Skills Required Strong hands-on experience with: - Make.com - APIs, webhooks and JSON - Retell AI or comparable production voice-AI systems - debugging and taking over existing automations - production error handling and testing ServiceM8 familiarity is highly desirable. The ServiceM8 integration is already built, so I am not asking you to create it from scratch, but you must be comfortable understanding, testing and maintaining an existing integration. Experience with GA4, GTM and Google Ads conversion tracking is also valuable. Who I Am Looking For I am looking for an individual senior developer who will personally do the work — not an agency or team. You must be comfortable inheriting somebody else's work. If your normal approach is to discard existing automation and rebuild everything from scratch, this project is not suitable. Strong spoken and written English is required. You must be able to start promptly and give the project consistent attention until Phase 1 is production-ready. Good communication is important because the system contains an AI sales/booking agent and we need to communicate clearly during testing. There is ongoing work available for the right developer. I have additional AI automation projects and would prefer to build an ongoing working relationship with someone reliable rather than hire a different developer for every project.
