Web Application Development for a Construction Company

ConstructFlow — Web Application Development Brief I want to develop a mobile-first web application/PWA for a road and bridge construction company. The objective is to replace our manual site diaries, material registers, machinery records, expense vouchers, and scattered project documents with one simple system. The company normally operates 3–6 projects simultaneously. Each project must be treated as a completely independent business, with separate stock, expenses, finances, documents, labour, machinery and reports. 1. Site Daily Diary The site engineer/site manager should be able to record: Daily labour attendance and wages: male labour, female labour, masons and other categories. Subcontractor attendance by name; subcontractors are paid separately based on cubic metres of casting, not daily wages. Staff attendance. Material received, including vendor, specification, quantity, unit and challan details. Material consumption and closing stock. Daily cash/online/cheque expenses and vouchers. Machinery usage, movement, breakdowns, maintenance and consumables. Daily progress, remarks and site photographs. 2. Materials & Inventory Track all materials with vendor and specification variations. Units include: Cement — Bags Steel — Metric Tonnes Diesel — Litres Bitumen — Metric Tonnes Sand, aggregates, GSB and WMM — Cubic Feet Bulk-material stock can be rounded off by the site engineer/manager, but any stock adjustment requires Director approval. All changes must have an audit trail. 3. Machinery Track machinery movement, daily usage/hours, maintenance, breakdowns and consumables. 4. Project Finance Director-only financial controls should include contract value, project expenses, financial security instruments and running bills. The project dashboard should prominently show Expenses Till Date and Amount Received Till Date. Clicking Amount Received should show Bill No., Bill Date, Amount, Receiving Date and the uploaded running-bill PDF. 5. Documents Anyone authorised may upload project documents, but documents require Director approval before becoming approved/current versions. Maintain document categories, version history and audit trails. 6. Users & Permissions Implement role-based access for Director, Admin, Project Manager and Site Engineer/Site Manager. Project assignment must be configurable so an authorised substitute can enter data when the regular site manager is absent. Technical Expectations Build a secure, scalable, responsive application that works well on Android phones, iPhones and desktop computers. Use a modern stack such as React/Next.js, Node.js and PostgreSQL, or propose an equivalent architecture. Include authentication, role-based permissions, database backups, file storage, audit logs and PDF/report generation. The priority is simplicity and speed of data entry. The application should feel like a digital construction diary, not complicated ERP software.
