I need a modern, single-page web application that lets users stay on top of their money with as little friction as possible. The core of the app will be built in React (hooks, functional components, modern context or Redux for state), backed by any lightweight Node/Express or serverless API you prefer. Core workflow • Users enter or automatically import income and expense data. Manual entry must feel snappy; automatic import should rely on Plaid or a similar open-banking API and store tokens securely. • A recurring-expense engine flags subscriptions and fixed bills, then forecasts upcoming outflows so the dashboard always shows an accurate cash-flow projection. • Interactive charts (D3.js, Recharts, or Chart.js—your call) break down spending by category, vendor, and time period. Drill-downs and hover details are a must. Interface requirements The first release is desktop-first, but every component should still scale down gracefully so we can add tablet or mobile breakpoints later without rewriting layouts. Emphasize clean typography, intuitive color cues, and keyboard accessibility. Deliverables 1. Production-ready React codebase with clear README for local setup. 2. Secure auth flow (JWT or NextAuth) and protected routes. 3. REST or GraphQL endpoints for transactions, categories, and recurring rules. 4. Unit tests for critical reducers, hooks, and API helpers. 5. A Dockerfile (or similar) so I can spin it up in one command. Acceptance criteria – Manual and automatic data capture both work end-to-end. – Recurring expenses are detected or configurable and surface accurately on the dashboard. – All charts load under 200 ms on a typical broadband connection. – The app passes Lighthouse accessibility ≥ 90 on desktop. If you’ve shipped finance tooling before, let me know what API or data-sync approach you like best; I’m open to suggestions as long as privacy stays front and center.
