Police Misconduct Suite

My name is William T. Bruck Jr. I am an 85-year-old veteran seeking representation concerning a potential police-misconduct and civil-rights action arising from an incident in Brick Township on December 23, 2025. The incident began when an off-duty police officer, driving his personal unmarked vehicle, allegedly witnessed a traffic violation involving me. Rather than simply reporting the alleged violation, he followed/pursued me for approximately 15 miles in his private vehicle. He had no police lights or other visible emergency equipment. He ultimately contacted local law enforcement, and responding officers issued me traffic summonses. The resulting traffic prosecution continued for approximately nine months. The summonses were ultimately dismissed when the officer necessary for the prosecution failed to appear in court. I am obtaining the court record documenting the precise basis for the dismissal. I timely submitted a New Jersey Tort Claims Act Notice of Claim. I am now collecting the remaining police, dispatch, court, and medical records and am prepared to proceed with litigation once counsel has evaluated the available causes of action and applicable deadlines. The damages component is significant. I have objective cardiac records from before and after this incident. A 2024 examination documented approximately 65% heart function. A subsequent 2026 examination documented approximately 35% function. During this period I experienced serious cardiovascular problems that resulted in hospitalization and two major heart procedures.
