Consumer Product Mechanical CAD Engineer

Title: Mechanical CAD Engineer – Injection-Moulded Plastic Consumer Product / Snap-Fits / Mechanisms / SolidWorks Project description: I am looking specifically for a mechanical product design engineer with proven experience designing small injection-moulded plastic consumer products. This is NOT an architecture, interior design, rendering, animation, graphic design or general 3D-modelling project. Please apply only if you have real experience with functional plastic parts intended for injection moulding, including features such as: * snap-fits and retaining clips; * small hinges and closures; * push/release mechanisms; * mating plastic components; * controlled clearances and tolerances; * wall thickness and draft angles; * ribs, radii and manufacturable geometry; * assembly fit and basic injection-moulding DFM. The overall product concept and styling are already defined. I need an engineer who can convert the existing specification into a manufacturer-ready mechanical CAD package, without redesigning the product concept. The project mainly includes: * a small handheld plastic holder; * a small protective case; * a removable component interface; * snap-fit / clip retention; * a low-force release mechanism; * hinge / closure details; * mechanical fit between components. Required deliverables: * editable native SolidWorks parts and assembly files; * STEP/STP files for all parts and assembly; * dimensioned 2D manufacturing drawings in PDF; * exploded assembly view; * section/detail views of critical mechanisms; * critical dimensions, tolerances and clearances; * preliminary material recommendations; * basic injection-moulding DFM notes; * at least one revision after manufacturer feedback. Mandatory experience: Please do not apply based only on general 3D-modelling or rendering experience. Your application must include at least one example of your own previous work involving a small injection-moulded plastic enclosure, snap-fit, clip, hinge, closure or release mechanism. If the previous project is confidential, a cropped CAD screenshot showing only the mechanical detail is sufficient. Applications showing only architecture, interiors, buildings, character modelling, jewellery, decorative STL models or general rendering will not be considered. Please confirm in your proposal: 1. Your experience with injection-moulded plastic product design. 2. Which relevant mechanical features you have designed before. 3. That you can provide editable native SolidWorks files. 4. Your realistic delivery time. 5. Your fixed total price for the complete scope. 6. Number of revisions included. 7. That you are willing to sign an NDA before receiving the confidential specification. No work should begin until the NDA, scope, deliverables, fixed price and timeline are agreed in writing.
