I’m assembling a small research-and-deal team to track down historic music contracts—record label and distribution agreements, publishing or songwriter deals, and artist management, producer, or licensing paperwork. My end goal is to obtain usable copies (or verifiable summaries) of these documents so I can assess rights positions and prepare for upcoming negotiations.also facebook messages from record labels What I can already provide includes the artists, writers, producers, and company names involved, approximate years and locations of each deal during the pandemic , plus the labels, publishers, managers, lawyers, and distributors who handled them. Your job is to turn that lead sheet into hard evidence by using whatever legitimate sources you know: copyright offices, PRO databases, public filings, industry journals, library archives, court dockets, or private contacts inside labels and law firms. Key deliverables • A brief research plan outlining the sources you’ll tap and the timeline you expect • High-resolution PDFs or certified excerpts of each located contract, clearly labeled • A short abstract per document that lists parties, date, type of agreement, and the key clauses I should notice (term, territory, rights granted, reversion, royalties) • Source citation so I can re-verify authenticity if needed If you have a background in entertainment law, music business affairs, or archival research—and you know your way around tools like PACER, EDGAR, ASCAP/BMI/PRS repertories, Billboard and Music Week archives, or label vault contacts—you’ll fit right in. Discretion is essential and all findings will stay under NDA. Let me know how you would approach the hunt and how quickly you can start.
