Ontario Canada Stale-dated Cheque Legal Advice Needed

I am seeking legal guidance regarding an Ontario refund cheque for a little over CAD $3,000 that has become stale-dated. The refund had previously been approved, and the cheque was issued in August 2024 by a company associated with a condominium development project. I recently requested that the cheque be reissued, but was advised that the company has now been completely closed out and that they are no longer able to issue the refund.
