About the job

My company shut down operations in December of 2024 and is filing for bankruptcy and the books are in disarray. Everything has run through QuickBooks, but little of it reconciles, and one year of tax returns are still outstanding. I need a licensed CPA who can dig into the file, trace every transaction, and rebuild reliable financial statements that will stand up to trustee and IRS scrutiny. The immediate priorities are threefold: sorting and organizing every financial record, preparing and filing the late federal and state returns, and compiling the schedules the bankruptcy court will require. QuickBooks data - complete, partial, and sometimes duplicated - will be your starting point, we also have all of the business bank statements for the year available so solid forensic accounting skills inside that platform are essential. Deliverables • Reconciled QuickBooks file with supporting work-papers • Clean year-end financial statements for all delinquent periods • Completed and e-filed federal & state returns, with confirmation receipts • Bankruptcy schedules P&L ready for my attorney I will provide full QuickBooks access, bank and credit-card statements, legal correspondence, and any other source documents I can locate. Please outline your approach, estimated timeline, and any additional information you need up front so we can move quickly.
