A licensed landscape architect will handle the overall site planning and design, tying hardscape, parking, and pedestrian circulation together while meeting local code requirements. The same stamped set must also include an attractive, water-wise planting plan that details species, quantities, spacing, and any soil amendments. Alongside this, a licensed irrigator must prepare a complete irrigation system design that dovetails with the planting layout. I only need the design phase at this stage—no installation or maintenance services—so the drawings should clearly show zoning, pipe sizing, controller locations, and the water-budget calculations typically requested by reviewers.
