About the job

Project Overview: We are seeking an experienced DevOps & Cloud Solutions Architect on a contract basis to establish, automate, and harden the cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines for an industrial Operations & Maintenance (O&M) digital platform (Biomass Plant Operations). The platform consists of a Flutter mobile client, a React.js admin portal, and a Node.js/Express microservices backend backed by PostgreSQL and Redis. Scope of Contract (Phase-1 & Phase-2 Deliverables): • Phase-1 Scope (Infrastructure Setup & Staging/Prod Deployment): Core modules to support: User Authentication & RBAC (9+ roles), Attendance Management, Raw Material Procurement & Shifting, Finished Goods Dispatch, Spare Inventory, Weekly Maintenance, and Plant Performance Metrics. Deliverable: Complete environment setup (Dev, QA, Staging, Production) on Microsoft Azure using Terraform (IaC). Setup of automated CI/CD deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions / Azure Pipelines) for backend microservices and web portal. • Phase-2 Scope (Integration & Scheduled Workloads Deployment): Modules to support: Regular Shift Operations (4-hour operational logs), Vehicle Management, Machine Error & Fault Tracking (auto-calculated stoppage hours, image/video proof), Consolidated MIS Data, Support Tickets, and Multi-Tier Automated Notification Engine. Deliverable: Implement background cron worker services (via Redis queues / Azure Functions) to execute periodic notification triggers (4-hour shift cycles, 12-hour MIS digests, and weekly maintenance reminders). Architect secure Azure Blob Storage containers with SAS tokens for high-volume field inspection photos and video uploads under flaky network conditions. Key Responsibilities: 1. Infrastructure as Code (Terraform): Modularize and maintain reusable Terraform scripts to provision all Azure infrastructure (App Services / Container Apps, VNets, Blob Storage, Key Vault). 2. Containerization & Tooling: Maintain and optimize local docker-compose.yml stacks so the engineering team can run the complete multi-service backend, PostgreSQL, and Redis locally with one command. 3. Future Scalability Architecture (Kubernetes-Ready): Structure current microservices deployments so the platform can smoothly transition to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) & Helm in the future as plant telemetry scales. 4. PostgreSQL Database Administration: Manage Azure Database for PostgreSQL—configure connection pooling (PgBouncer/native pool optimization), automated Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) backups, and zero-downtime schema migrations. 5. Observability & Health Monitoring: Configure centralized logging, container health metrics, and latency alerting (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or Prometheus/Grafana). Required Skills & Experience: • Strong hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer / Cloud Solutions Architect on Microsoft Azure. • Proficient in HashiCorp Terraform (State management, modular architecture). • Deep understanding of Docker, Docker Compose, and containerized Node.js microservices. • Knowledge of Kubernetes (AKS) architecture for future scale-out planning. • Production experience managing PostgreSQL (connection pooling, automated backups, indexing). • Familiarity with setting up GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines and background job schedulers.
