Senior Tech Lead / Full-Stack Developer for Technical Assessment of an Existing Travel-Tech Platform

We are a travel-tech startup preparing to launch an advanced accommodation booking platform. The existing product includes a web application, two mobile apps, a substantial TypeScript/React codebase, numerous API endpoints, payment flows, and third-party integrations. We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead / Full-Stack Developer who can independently assess an existing codebase, identify the most important technical risks, and help us establish a realistic path to launch. We are not looking to rebuild the platform from scratch. Phase 1 – Initial Technical Assessment - Review the overall architecture and project structure. - Assess the build, deployment, and testing setup. - Identify and prioritize critical technical risks and potential launch blockers. - Review the highest-risk areas of the booking and payment workflows at an initial level. - Deliver a concise written assessment with recommended next steps, estimated effort, and the proposed scope and cost of a deeper audit. Required Experience: - Strong hands-on experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and API integrations. - Proven experience taking over and stabilizing substantial existing codebases. - Experience with payment integrations including webhooks, refunds, failed transactions, and complex marketplace payment flows. - Familiarity with React Native/Expo, automated testing, security best practices, deployment workflows, and AI-assisted development tools is highly desirable. Candidates should include: 1. Relevant examples of existing platforms they personally took over or stabilized. 2. Their specific responsibilities in those projects. 3. Their current availability for the initial assessment (15–20 hours) and potential follow-on work. Budget and Engagement: The initial assessment is limited to 15–20 hours, with a budget of $500–800. This is an initial assessment, not a comprehensive audit or production-readiness certification. Any additional work will be scoped and approved separately based on the findings. We may subsequently engage the selected candidate as Tech Lead and potentially add a second developer depending on results, availability, and budget.
