Mechanical Engineer Needed for Custom Conveyor Belt and Product Sorting MechanismMachine Design | Material Handling | Industrial Automation

We are upgrading a small production line and need a mechanical engineer to design a compact conveyor system with an integrated product sorting mechanism. The conveyor will transport plastic components weighing between 100 and 500 grams at approximately 25 to 35 parts per minute. Products will be separated into two output lanes using a pneumatically operated diverter. We already have the overall layout and available floor space defined. The main challenge is designing a reliable transfer mechanism that doesn't cause products to rotate, jam, or fall during sorting. Scope includes: Design a modular belt conveyor with adjustable guides. Calculate motor torque, belt speed, and drive requirements. Develop a pneumatic diverter with suitable actuation timing. Select bearings, shafts, rollers, and standard transmission components. Prepare manufacturing drawings for CNC machined and sheet metal parts. Deliver a complete SolidWorks assembly, STEP files, and BOM.The system must allow easy maintenance and accommodate minor variations in product dimensions. Experience designing conveyors, packaging equipment, or automated material handling systems is preferred.
