About the job

Project: SeekLight English Position: Cambridge KET & PET Curriculum Developer Type: Freelance / Project-based Target learners: Young English learners, approximately 8–12+ Platform: AI-powered English learning platform About SeekLight SeekLight is an AI-powered English learning platform designed to help children develop practical English through structured learning, speaking practice, real-world situations, assessment, and personalized feedback. Our vision is to move beyond traditional lesson-based learning. Students should learn English through missions, not simply through lessons. Instead of completing a traditional sequence of textbook lessons, students enter different real-world missions where they need to use English to complete tasks, communicate, solve problems, and demonstrate what they have learned. Examples could include: * Airport Mission * Restaurant Mission * Hotel Mission * Shopping Mission * School Mission * Café Mission * Travel Mission * Doctor / Health Mission * Planning an Event Mission The missions will still follow a carefully structured curriculum and progression toward Cambridge KET (A2 Key) and PET (B1 Preliminary) objectives.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced English curriculum developer / Cambridge exam specialist to help us design the pedagogical foundation for SeekLight’s KET and PET programs. The objective is not to create hundreds of traditional lessons. Instead, you will help us develop the curriculum framework, learning progression, mission structures, and initial model content that our AI can later use to generate a much larger variety of learning experiences. Key Responsibilities You will: * Design a clear KET and PET learning progression * Map grammar, vocabulary, functions, and language skills to the appropriate CEFR level * Identify the language students need to successfully complete different real-world missions * Design approximately 10–20 high-quality model missions / learning experiences as examples * Develop mission structures that combine vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening, writing, and speaking * Create realistic situations where students have a reason to communicate in English * Design speaking tasks and interactive conversations within missions * Create appropriate KET and PET exam-style activities * Connect mission content to Cambridge exam objectives * Develop assessment and progress-check activities * Create clear pedagogical guidelines for AI-generated missions * Establish rules for vocabulary, grammar, difficulty, progression, and language output * Review AI-generated content and provide pedagogical feedback * Work with the SeekLight development team to ensure the curriculum can be implemented effectively on the platform The Learning Philosophy A key part of SeekLight is: Learn → Practice → Complete a Mission → Speak → Assess → Improve For example, rather than teaching a unit simply called “Food and Restaurants”, students could enter a Restaurant Mission where they need to: 1. Learn the necessary vocabulary and language 2. Practice useful expressions 3. Listen to a customer or waiter 4. Read a menu 5. Order food 6. Ask and answer questions 7. Deal with a problem 8. Complete a speaking challenge 9. Receive feedback 10. Progress to the next mission The curriculum developer will help us determine what language should be taught before each mission and how that language should be recycled and assessed throughout the program. AI-Ready Curriculum The curriculum will be designed as a foundation for AI-generated content. You will establish the pedagogical rules and provide high-quality examples. The SeekLight AI system will then be able to generate different missions, scenarios, questions, activities, and practice materials while following the curriculum framework. This means the curriculum needs to be: Structured → Progressive → Practical → Engaging → Cambridge-aligned → AI-ready Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone with: * Strong experience teaching English to young learners * Experience teaching Cambridge KET and/or PET * Experience developing English curriculum or teaching materials * Strong understanding of CEFR levels * Good knowledge of Cambridge exam skills and task types * Strong knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, speaking, reading, listening, and writing development * Experience creating engaging, communicative learning activities * An understanding of task-based or communicative language teaching * Interest in educational technology and AI-assisted learning Experience with EdTech, AI-generated educational content, or digital learning platforms is an advantage. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who can think beyond the traditional textbook model. We want to create a system where children use English to accomplish something, rather than simply complete another lesson. Your role will be to help us transform Cambridge-aligned learning objectives into engaging, age-appropriate missions that develop real communication skills while preparing students for KET and PET. The initial project will focus on creating the curriculum framework and a limited number of high-quality model missions. Further collaboration may be possible as SeekLight develops.
