I’d like a patient, knowledgeable mentor who can guide my teenage son—an absolute beginner—through the fundamentals of version control with Git and GitHub, PHP programming, and HTML + basic web development. He learns best when material is broken down into clear, step-by-step tutorials that he can follow at his own pace and then practise under gentle supervision. Here’s how I picture the engagement: • Design a simple, progressive curriculum that alternates short explanations with hands-on coding. • Meet online (screen-share or similar) for regular sessions, walking him through each concept live and answering questions as they arise. • Provide small take-home exercises after every lesson so he can cement the material, then review his code the next time you meet. • Introduce Git and GitHub from day one—creating a repo, committing, branching, and opening pull requests—so he forms good habits early. • Gradually weave in PHP and HTML topics, building a tiny but functional website that lives in that repo. Success for us means my son can: – clone, commit, push, branch, merge, and open a pull request confidently; – write simple PHP scripts, link them to HTML pages, and debug common errors; – deploy a basic site and understand how the pieces fit together. If you enjoy teaching beginners and can keep explanations friendly, jargon-light, and practical, I’d love to hear how you’d structure the first few weeks and what tools you prefer to use for remote sessions.
