Custom Web Accounting System

I run an authorized accounting firm in Sweden that supports roughly 65 small-business clients. I now want to replace the mix of off-the-shelf tools we use with a single, fully web-based accounting system developed specifically for our workflow. The primary function, in my own words, is to “build a web-based accounting system” that lets us handle bookkeeping, payroll, and the production of annual reports and financial statements in one place. Although the main day-to-day users will be our in-house accountants, the structure must allow for a future client portal should we decide to open direct access. Key areas I need covered • Bookkeeping: double-entry ledger, VAT handling, and seamless bank-feed reconciliation for Swedish banks. • Payroll: Swedish tax tables, vacation accruals, employer declarations (AGI) and automated payslip generation. • Year-end: automatic compilation of the annual report and export of XBRL/​SRU files ready for Bolagsverket, plus digital signing. Technical expectations • Browser-based UI (desktop-first, responsive for tablets). • Secure multi-company, multi-user architecture with role-based permissions. • API-friendly design so we can integrate Försäkringskassan, Skatteverket and bank feeds (Open Banking/PSD2). • Source-controlled codebase (Git) and clear documentation so we can maintain it in-house after hand-over. Acceptance criteria 1. A working MVP deployed to a staging server that covers ledger entry, payroll run, and generation of a complete annual report for one test company. 2. All data stored in an EU-hosted database with encrypted connections. 3. Code walkthrough and hand-over meeting recorded and delivered alongside user manual.
